Blessing our home
by Maria Muscarella - March 18th, 2008.Filed under: House.
I need some creative thoughts here…
We are wanting to carve a blessing into the piece of wood that we put above our front door, on the inside. Any advice… It needs to be a fairly short blessing to fit on the wood. Two that I have thought of so far are:
May this home be a place of happiness & health. May those who visit & those who live here know only blessings and peace.
Bless this home and all who enter.
But I know there are more out there…. Let’s hear em!

What about “Cead Mile Failte”?
It is Gaelic for “a hundred thousand welcomes”.

It takes a heap o’ living
to make a house a home.
Congratulations, and thanks so much for sharing!

My family’s Scots/Irish, so above our door is a sign that reads -
“May your troubles be less and your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door.”
But that may be too long for you.

A home we have built; it’s blessings within.

How about simply, “Open House”?

I made a sign for friend that he has hung over his door. it says “Eat, Drink, and Beer Me.” We like that one.

The “heap o livin’” quote is from a poem from Edgar Guest… I like “God rest His love upon this door and bless our home forevermore” If you aren’t Christian, you may want to alter it a bit.
